The Concert Band is under the direction of Mrs. S. The band practices regularly, and performs annually at the Winspear Centre, St. Mark feeder schools, St. Mark Open House and at school concerts and celebrations. The band has received an Award of Excellence for their performance at the Winspear. 

Band members are selected from the various classes that are involved in our brass and woodwind music programs.

The school's music students annually go to Camp Nakamun for an overnight music workshop that is staffed by qualified music teachers and performers. Students have a lot of fun at camp, and become better musicians as well!

We are proud to announce that students from St. Mark are often selected as members of the Edmonton Catholic Schools All City Band. This band is a prestigious group of Junior High School musicians that represent our school district at various functions throughout the year.

A big thank you to all Grade 8 and Grade 9 Concert Band students who performed at St. Joseph High School on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008. We enjoyed the opportunity to record a St. Mark Concert Band CD, meet with Mr. Greg D. and his band students and share our talents with the community. We will be selling CD’s to all Grade 8 and Grade 9 band students as a fundraiser and hope you can support us.

Our Concert Band rehearsals are scheduled each Wednesday at noon hour and we would encourage all band students to come out and play. Please encourage your child and help them understand the commitment involved in any extra curricular activity. So far, there has been tremendous success with turnout for rehearsals.

All Grade 8 and Grade 9 Band students are excited and eager to go on our overnight trip to Camp Nakamun scheduled for Monday, December 1 to Tuesday, December 2, 2008. The permission letters have been handed out and need to be returned to Mrs. Saul. We look forward to our guest conductor and clinicians.

The Grade 7 Band students will attend Camp Nakamun Monday, December 15th and Tuesday, December 16th, 2008. Permission forms will be handed out in early December. We will provide more details at a later date.

Thank you once again for the support of our School Parent Advisory Committee who have made our Camp Nakamun trips much more affordable. The students will benefit from this fantastic opportunity to enhance their musical studies. Thank you.
