exams
Exams. There's a word to make you sweat.
The real problem, according to education expert
Nick Whitehead of Oxford Learning
, is that “students try to recall information they
have learned and filed incorrectly. Rather than being passive learners, students
must become active processors of questioning, summarizing and integrating
information.” Whitehead offers the following four steps to assist students with
their studying:
-
Study Notes – Try to spend 10 minutes per subject each
night looking at your notes.
-
Don’t Memorize Your Notes – But just make sure you
understand what they mean.
-
Keep Track – Know when your assignments, tests and homework
are due so you are not surprised.
-
Know Yourself – What things distract you? Noise? Movement?
People? When you discover what distracts you, change your environment.
