Math

Grade 7 | Grade 8 | Grade 9

The goal of mathematics is to produce learners who will appreciate mathematics as a study of relationships rather than as a set of facts to be memorized.

To acquire this goal, students will be given tasks meeting the requirements of order, neatness, timing, proper materials, and homework completion.

WORLD MATH DAY

Congratulations to St. Mark students on their participation in World Maths Day 2008.

It was an outstanding achievement from students from 164 countries to correctly answer 182,455,169 questions during the event and set a new World Record. Most pleasingly, students showed an average improvement of over 30% in mental arithmetic speed.

The focus here is on practical mental math speed and accuracy, so an improvement of 30% is very positive. The students participated with an excited enthusiasm, helping to create a very positive mindset towards math and its purposes.

We look forward to next year and setting new records of achievement in mental arithmetic.
