music program

Music instruction at St. Mark takes place in a wind ensemble setting. Students have the opportunity to experience music through the use of modern-day concert band instruments. Students are able to play an instrument from the brass, woodwind, or percussion section. Examples of such are the flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and drum set. Students also become familiar with various aspects of classical and contemporary music, from Mozart to modern pop and rock pieces.

All students in grade seven have the opportunity to take music when they come to St. Mark. This gives students the opportunity to discover hidden musical talents. Students begin with little or no experience and are challenged to develop their skills on the instrument of their choice. They work on these skills at our overnight music camp.

Students have many opportunities to further develop their talents and gifts in the music program. St. Mark has a concert band that plays at school celebrations, recitals, senior residences, and many other exciting places. The Concert Band participates in field trips out of the city to further their music experience and has fun at other playing opportunities. Through additional playing opportunities students are encouraged to become the best musicians and individuals they can be. Music is essential for students to have a well-rounded and balanced learning experience.
