Physical Education 7, 8, 9

The aim of the K-12 physical education program is to enable individuals to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.  There are four general learner outcomes upon which the physical education program is based.

  •  Activity: to acquire skills through developmentally appropriate movement activities in the areas of games, individual activities, alternative environments, dance, and gymnastics.

  • Health Benefits: to understand, experience, and appreciate the health benefits that result from physical activity.

  • Cooperation: to interact positively with others.

  • Do it Daily… For Life: to assume responsibility for a continuous and active way of life.

Health and Life Skills 7, 8, 9

The aim of the K-9 Health and Life Skills program is to enable students to make informed and healthy choices and to develop behaviours that contribute to the well-being of self and others.

Three general outcomes serve as the foundation for Health and Life Skills. Students will:

  • Make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety for self and others.

  • Develop effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate responsibility, respect, and caring in order to establish and maintain healthy interactions in life.

  • Use resources effectively to manage and explore life roles and career opportunities and challenges.
